Admissions

An outstanding global faculty and world-class facilities are just the beginning. A great law school needs great students, and this is where you come in.

The law school will begin recruiting students for autumn 2017 enrollment in the Spring of 2016. The recruiting season will begin with a tour of all 54 higher secondary schools across Bhutan. Our faculty will meet with Grade XI and Grade XII students to tell them about the law school and the legal profession in Bhutan, and to answer questions from students, parents, and staff.

For our pioneering first class of students, the law school is seeking a small number of truly unique individuals. Our law students must not only be high academic achievers, they must also possess an adventurous spirit and a commitment to their community and their nation. Applicants should be able to express themselves in Dzongkha and in English, and above all, should not be afraid to work hard. We view our students as full partners in our journey to create a law school the entire nation can be proud of.

Applications will be available online or in hard copy beginning in December 2016. In March 2017, we will administer a law school admissions test, which will test a student’s reading comprehension, fluency, logical thinking, and critical reading skills. (Sample questions will be available on this website in the Autumn of 2016.) Students will apply for admission and for scholarships at the same time.  The application process will conclude in early April, as all short-listed candidates will be invited to participate in a face-to-face interview with our faculty.

It is our hope that, as a result of this rigorous application and admissions process, we can recruit the finest students from across the country for this truly historic first class.

If you have any questions, or if you would like us to notify you when the application and recruiting process begins, please do not hesitate to email us at admissions@jswlaw.bt or fill out our online questions form.
