Professor Judy Stark, the associate dean for library and information services, and Professor Rinzin Wangdi, recently completed teaching first-term courses as part of the Post-Graduate Diploma in National Law (PGDNL) course, offered at the Royal Institute of Management in Thimphu.
PGDNL is a one-year “conversion course” offered to Bhutanese law graduates who wish to convert their foreign law degree into a Bhutanese qualifying degree. The attendees have graduated from an undergraduate law course abroad, and typically seek to enter the judiciary, government service, or private practice in Bhutan.
The PGDNL consists of courses in Dzongkha language, Bhutanese law, and court management, and also features a third-term “moot court” simulation.
Professor Judy’s course was in legal research and writing, while Professor Rinzin’s course was in Bhutanese legal history.
In the third term of the course, beginning in September, Professor Michael Peil, the JSW Law vice dean, will teach a course on legal drafting.
