JSW Law was honoured to welcome a fact-finding mission from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), headed by DAAD General Secretary Dr. Dorothea Rüland, for a series of discussions concerning future cooperation between German law faculties and Bhutan’s first law school. The discussions were part of a larger Bhutanese-German summit concerning future cooperation between the two countries.
Dr. Rüland and her team described the landscape of German legal education and proposed pathways to cooperation, including faculty and student exchanges and joint research projects. Dean Sangay Dorjee and Associate Dean Stephan Sonnenberg described JSW Law’s mission and timeline.
Deans Sangay and Stephan had the opportunity to meet other members of the German delegation at events throughout the week, and the parties agreed that there are numerous spheres in which academic cooperation might be pursued.
