Her Royal Highness Princess Sonam Dechan Wangchuck, the Honourable President of JSW School of Law today graced the opening ceremony of a three-day research conference on “Public Law, Legal Orders and Governance: Regulating Globalisation in Asia,” co-hosted by JSW School of Law (Bhutan) and the University of Victoria (Canada).
Legal scholars and experts from nearly a dozen countries are gathered in Thimphu for the next three days to discuss the interaction of law and development.
This three-day conference is a part of a broader collaboration among JSW Law, the University of Victoria, and four law schools in India, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Sangay Dorjee, Dean of JSW School of Law, and Susan Breaux, Dean of University of Victoria’s law school, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) this morning establishing formal bilateral relations between the two schools. This signing was held at the opening ceremony of the joint conference on “Public Law, Legal Orders and Governance: Regulating Globalisation in Asia.” The ceremony was also attended by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Chief Justice, Speaker, Chairperson of the National Council, Opposition Leader and Justices of the Supreme Court.
