Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law's mission is to shape young students into lawyers who can navigate the modern global legal environment while remaining mindful of Gross National Happiness and Bhutanese culture and traditions.  JSW School of Law is deeply grateful to all our worldwide partners who have donated numerous resources to make the law school a reality.  To donate to JSW School of Law, please contact our Friends of JSW department at phuntsho.wangmo@jswlaw.bt.

Since 2013, Austrian Development Cooperation has provided generous financial and expert support to JSW Law, especially in the areas of Experiential Legal Education, institutional linkages, and faculty development and training.

The Karuna Foundation is a U.S.-based foundation dedicated to mitigating carbon emisssions and helping developing nations and the ecosystems they rely upon adapt to climate change.  Since 2014, the Karuna Foundation, seeing an opportunity to make a significant and long-lasting impact in improving the energy efficiency and comfort of Bhutanese buildings, has provided generous funding and multi-disciplinary expertise to the construction of the law school's campus.

In 2016, JSW Law entered into its first ever academic cooperation arrangement with the University of Vienna (Austria).  Under that agreement, a small number of Vienna law and social sciences faculty come to Bhutan every year to teach JSW Law undergraduate students.  The agreement also envisions cooperative research between faculty of the two institutions and joint conferences.

Since 2009, the global law firm, White & Case LLC, has generously supported legal education and the rule of law in Bhutan.  In addition to a number of other projects, the firm established Bhutan’s first national law library, recruited senior consultants for JSW Law, and provided expertise and professional advice to nearly all segments of the law school.
